President Donald Trump issued a full pardon to Petty Officer First Class Patrick “Tate” Adamiak of the United States Navy, nullifying a 20-year prison sentence imposed for possession of inert replica RPGs that had been modified and seized during a 2022 raid by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The conviction followed a trial in which Second Amendment advocacy groups claimed the ATF had mishandled evidence.
Critics described the original prosecution as an unjust example-making effort by the Biden administration. The Second Amendment Foundation praised the pardon as correcting a wrongful conviction and said Adamiak would be reunited with his family. Gun Owners of America reported that three additional individuals convicted under the National Firearms Act were also pardoned by Trump.
