President Donald Trump will award the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to leading tech CEOs, including Elon Musk, at a White House summit.
At a forthcoming White House event titled "Science: A New Golden Age Summit," President Donald Trump is set to confer the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation on a group of prominent American innovators. The honors will go to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, AMD chief Lisa Su, Dell Technologies head Michael Dell and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella.
This will be the first occasion Trump personally presents either medal during his tenure. The summit aims to gather top scientists and industry leaders to discuss how private-sector investment and advanced AI can drive breakthroughs and maintain U.S. leadership in technology. Musk’s participation follows a recent reconciliation after a public dispute that had threatened his government contracts. He also resumes an advisory role on the Pentagon’s Project Meridian, which examines future warfare technologies.
Why it matters
The awards highlight the administration’s focus on tech leadership and signal renewed ties between the government and major innovators.
