Trump weighs major move on whether to eliminate Iran's regime after UN war-crimes report

Donald Trump says he faces a major decision on possibly wiping out Iran's regime following a UN fact-finding mission that labeled two U.S. strikes in Iran as potential war crimes.

A United Nations fact-finding team concluded that two American attacks in February - one on a school in Minab that killed over 150 people, many of them children, and another on a sports centre in Lamerd that caused civilian casualties - may constitute war crimes. The same report accused Iranian authorities of crimes against humanity and will be forwarded to the UN Human Rights Council. In response, Trump said he is contemplating a "big decision" about whether to annihilate the Iranian regime.

Why it matters

The story links potential war crimes by the U.S. to a former president's threat of extreme action against Iran, raising global security concerns.
