Turek apologizes to Hnutí Duha after court orders public posting of his statement
Turek submitted an apology to Hnutí Duha via a data box, but has not yet posted it on Facebook as required by the Prague Municipal Court.
The Prague Municipal Court ordered Turek to issue a public apology after his remarks about parasites offended the environmental organization Hnutí Duha. He complied by sending an apology to the group via a data box but has not yet fulfilled the requirement to post it on his Facebook page. Within the prescribed fifteen-day period, Turek did not file an appeal.
Hnutí Duha’s director, Zuzana Lenhartová, said the apology was a satisfactory step and expressed hope that Turek will be more cautious in future statements, adding that the group is prepared to take legal action again if needed. The organization also criticized the political party Motoristé for diverting attention from NGOs and activists while its own policies face public scrutiny. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between the party and environmental activists in the Czech Republic.
