Turin court denies Mario Roggero's request to postpone prison term
The Tribunal di sorveglianza di Torino rejected the defense's bid to defer the sentence of 72-year-old jeweller Mario Roggero.
The Turin surveillance court turned down the request to postpone Roggero's 14-year-nine-month term, which he received for killing two armed robbers and wounding a third during a 2021 raid on his shop. His lawyers had asked first for a stay pending President Sergio Mattarella’s decision on a pardon, then for house arrest. The prosecutor’s office had opposed the request, and the court upheld that opposition.
