Turkey and Azerbaijan seal over $500 million defense pact at Baku expo
Turkey and Azerbaijan signed defense agreements worth more than $500 million, including 14 Hürkuş-II trainer jets, during the ADEX 2026 exhibition in Baku.
During the ADEX 2026 defence fair in Baku, Turkey and Azerbaijan finalized a package of contracts valued at over $500 million, according to Haluk Görgün of the Presidency of Defense Industries. The core of the deal involves the supply of fourteen Hürkuş-II trainer aircraft from Turkish Aerospace Industries, alongside smart loitering munitions from Baykar, the Barbaros coastal defence system from Roketsan, and radar equipment from Aselsan.
The partners framed the agreements as a means to reinforce defence capabilities and promote peace in the region. Complementary memoranda were signed to expand academic cooperation, joint R&D, and the establishment of a production facility in Nakhchivan by Aselsan and NOVASIS. Further MoUs with Turkish and Azerbaijani firms aim to develop radio-frequency systems and logistics support, underscoring a broadening of bilateral industrial ties.
