Turkey detains 33 suspects in coordinated raids against FETÖ and Daesh networks
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said 33 of 35 wanted individuals were arrested in four operations targeting the Gülenist Terror Group and Daesh across Izmir, Eskişehir and Ağrı.
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that 33 out of 35 individuals with detention warrants have been taken into custody after four separate raids aimed at the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) and Daesh. The operations, coordinated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices in Izmir, Eskişehir and Ağrı, involved police and gendarmerie forces. Investigators reported significant evidence of FETÖ's financial links abroad, including money moved through a U.S.-based firm in exchange for Turkish food exports.
Additional arrests stemmed from connections to the former Bank Asya and the use of Bylock, an encrypted messaging platform linked to the groups. In Eskişehir, nine of ten suspects were detained; two were captured in one Izmir probe, and all 21 targets in a second Izmir sweep were apprehended. Authorities continue to search for the remaining suspect.
Why it matters
