Turkey detains 47 more suspects in 2009 crash that killed nationalist leader
Turkish authorities have ordered the detention of 47 additional suspects linked to the 2009 helicopter crash that killed Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu.
In a renewed probe of the 2009 helicopter disaster that claimed the life of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, Turkey has moved to detain 47 more individuals. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said simultaneous raids hit 45 addresses in 16 of the country's 81 provinces. Among the suspects, 33 have been arrested, ten were already serving sentences, and three are still missing.
Authorities allege the detainees participated in a deliberate plot orchestrated by the FETÖ terrorist network to eliminate Yazıcıoğlu and to hide evidence surrounding the crash on Mount Keş in the Göksun district. The investigation, originally focused on negligence, was reopened after claims of state involvement. The operation reflects ongoing controversy over whether the 2009 incident was an accident or a politically motivated murder.
