Turkey's agricultural exports hit record $27.1 billion in Jan-Sept, led by fruit, fish and tobacco
Turkey's agricultural exports rose 4.4% year-on-year to a record $27.1 billion for the January-September period, making up 12.9% of total exports.
Data released by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly show that Turkey's agricultural exports reached a new high of $27.1 billion in the January-September window, up 4.4% from the previous year and representing 12.9% of the nation's total export value of $211 billion. Three agricultural subsectors posted their strongest Jan-Sept figures on record: fresh fruit and vegetables surged 42.2% to $3.2 billion, aquaculture and animal products grew 8% to $3.1 billion, and tobacco rose 15.4% to $929.5 million.
Iraq led demand for fresh produce with $842 million, Russia was the main buyer of aquaculture and animal products at $398.1 million, and the United States topped tobacco purchases at $157 million. Provincial leaders were Mersin for fruit and veg, Muğla for aquaculture and animal products, and İzmir for tobacco.
