Turkey's Diyanet Foundation allocates $66.4 million to aid Palestinians
The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has spent $66.4 million on humanitarian relief for Palestinians in Gaza and neighboring countries, reaching over 16 million people.
The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) reports that it has provided $66,400,318 in emergency humanitarian aid to Palestinians since October 2023, benefiting 16,174,367 individuals. Aid distribution relies on three channels: cooperation with partner groups inside Gaza, overland truck deliveries from Jordan and Egypt, and maritime shipments coordinated with AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent, departing from Mersin to Egypt’s El-Arish port.
The bulk of the funding, $41.68 million, was directed to Gaza, $22.07 million to Egypt, $2.46 million to Turkey and $187,200 to Jordan. Medical support includes equipment such as hearing aids, wheelchairs, crutches, and funding for surgeries and medication for injured patients in Gaza and Egypt, as well as assistance for those receiving treatment in Turkey. Educational assistance comprised school bags for 1,000 children, and the foundation also restored water wells to enhance clean-water supply in the enclave.
Why it matters
The aid helps alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians across Gaza and surrounding regions.
