Turkey's exports to the United States rise sharply, securing second-largest market spot
Turkey's exports to the United States grew by 12.9% in the first eight months of the year, making the U.S. its second-largest export destination.
According to figures compiled by the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey's overall export volume climbed 4% from $177.9 billion to $185 billion in the January-August period. During the same timeframe, shipments to the United States rose 12.9% to $9.64 billion, confirming the U.S. as the country's second-largest export market after Germany's $13.58 billion. The surge was driven primarily by chemicals, which jumped 33.7% to over $1.04 billion, followed by machinery and components at $530.8 million and carpets at $486.7 million. Istanbul topped provincial contributions with $3.42 billion, up 9.1%, while Ankara, Izmir, Gaziantep and Kocaeli also posted notable increases.
