Turkey unveils EVREN, a defense-focused AI platform with domestic GPU cloud
Turkey launched EVREN, a national AI platform designed for the defence sector, offering GPU-based computing and a credit-earning model for users.
On Sunday, Turkey's Presidency of Defense Industries announced the rollout of EVREN, a national artificial-intelligence platform aimed at bolstering the country's defence industry. The service aggregates datasets, AI models and a domestic high-performance GPU infrastructure, ensuring that sensitive information stays inside Turkey's borders. Users log in via e-Devlet and earn credits by contributing data, labeling, or sharing trained models, which can then be spent on model training and large-language-model inference.
EVREN provides end-to-end tools for computer-vision tasks and currently runs eleven open-weight LLMs, with an API that will remain free of usage limits until 1 Nov 2026. Within a short time the platform attracted 7,500 active participants and will continue to expand with home-grown language, image and audio models and a distributed GPU management system.
Why it matters
EVREN gives Turkey a sovereign AI infrastructure for defence, reducing reliance on foreign cloud services.
