Turkey’s first lady champions zero-waste and child digital safety at UN summit
Emine Erdoğan will address UN meetings in New York, highlighting Turkey’s zero-waste vision and the need for safe digital spaces for children.
During the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, Emine Erdoğan will deliver opening remarks for a session titled “Real Momentum, Concrete Transformation,” emphasizing Turkey’s zero-waste objectives. She will first meet with economist Jeffrey Sachs and attend the opening ceremony of New York Climate Week 2026, followed by participation in the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Meetings. At a side event organized by Turkey’s Ministry of Family and Social Services, she will speak on building safe digital systems for children and advancing international standards.
Additional engagements include a high-level dialogue with the International Energy Agency, a reception with U.S. first lady Melania Trump, and bilateral meetings with other leaders’ spouses at the Turkish House. She will also join President Erdoğan at a Turkey-United States friendship celebration and a joint Trump-hosted reception for heads of state and their spouses.
