Turkish Airlines signs contract for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets

Turkish Airlines finalized a landmark procurement with Boeing for up to 150 737 MAX planes, the carrier’s biggest single-aisle order ever. The contract, signed in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, comprises firm orders for 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and options for another 50, with the possibility of converting some to the larger 737-10 variant. The new jets are intended to reinforce the airline’s short- and medium-range routes, especially high-traffic domestic and international services, offering roughly 20% lower fuel use and emissions compared with older models.

Chairperson Murat Şeker said the fleet addition will enhance operational flexibility and support Turkey’s broader aviation ecosystem. Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope noted the mutual trust underpinning the long-standing relationship. The transaction builds on a 2025 purchase of 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and is accompanied by a memorandum of understanding to expand industrial collaboration and technology sharing between the two firms.
