Turkish anti-terror board pledges progress on PKK disarmament and social integration

The National Solidarity and Integration Coordination Board convened on Sept. 28, led by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and attended by Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, intelligence chief İbrahim Kalın and National Security Council Secretary-General Okay Memiş. In its second meeting before the parliament’s new legislative year begins on Oct. 1, the board assessed progress on the government’s “terror-free Türkiye” project, which aims for the complete disarmament and dissolution of the PKK and enhanced social integration.

A post-meeting statement highlighted the importance of the framework law and reviewed ongoing and planned activities. The board also finalized the structure and coordination mechanisms for four subcommittees: Judicial and Legal Affairs, Monitoring and Assessment, Social Cohesion and Integration, and Disarmament and Strategic Coordination. Officials pledged to carry out their tasks with utmost care and full inter-agency cooperation. The council will maintain its momentum as the new parliamentary session approaches.
