Turkish carriers await delivery of 317 Boeing jets amid passenger surge

Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and SunExpress are expecting a total of 317 Boeing aircraft as Turkey's air travel market continues to grow.

Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and SunExpress together have placed orders for 317 Boeing aircraft, a figure that reflects the rapid expansion of Turkey’s aviation sector. Turkish Airlines leads with 153 pending deliveries, comprising 100 Boeing 737 MAX jets and 53 wide-body 787 Dreamliners. Pegasus has ordered 100 Boeing 737s, while SunExpress awaits 64 aircraft from the 737 family.

These orders represent roughly 4.6 percent of Boeing’s total backlog of 6,863 planes reported at the end of September 2026. The surge in fleet commitments follows a 2.9 percent year-on-year increase in scheduled airline passengers in Turkey in 2025, a growth that positioned the nation among the top ten global passenger markets, according to IATA’s July 2026 report. The pending deliveries are expected to support the airlines’ capacity growth as demand continues to rise. Boeing officials provided the order data to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
