An Ankara court has ordered the arrest of 36 suspects in an expanded inquiry into the 2009 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, three BBP officials, a journalist and the pilot. The operation, coordinated with the National Intelligence Organization and the Organized Crime Branch of the Ankara Police, involved searches at 45 locations in 16 provinces. Prosecutors issued detention warrants for 47 people accused of participating in a pre-meditated killing tied to the Gülenist Terror Group and of obstructing the investigation.
In total, 38 suspects were detained, with 10 already incarcerated; 36 were ordered to stay in custody and two placed under judicial control. Authorities seized documents and other material during the raids. The case, now more than 17 years old, remains under meticulous investigation on multiple fronts.
