Turkish F-16s and drones conduct multiple overflights of Greek Aegean islands

Greek defence officials confirmed that Turkish military aircraft performed a series of overflights in the Aegean Sea, targeting the islands of Ro and Zouraphos for the first time since January 2023. Two F-16 fighter jets crossed over Ro, and a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle entered the airspace of Zouraphos. Throughout the day, four additional F-16s, an ATR-72 used for naval cooperation, and five UAVs were active across the northeastern, central and southeastern Aegean regions.

These operations amounted to seven infringements of Greece's national airspace and thirteen breaches of the Athens Flight Information Region's traffic regulations. The Hellenic Air Force identified and intercepted the aircraft in line with established international protocols. No further escalation was reported.
