Turkish Foreign Minister to Lead Gaza and Trade Talks at Baku CICA Summit

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the CICA summit in Baku, where he plans to denounce Israel’s Gaza actions and promote regional trade and security.

At the invitation of Azerbaijan, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia’s seventh summit in Baku, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In his remarks, Fidan is slated to condemn Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, its expanding occupation, and restrictions on humanitarian aid, as well as settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, calling for heightened global pressure to achieve a two-state peace.

He will also stress the need for multilateral dialogue and stronger institutions to address global crises. Economic topics will feature prominently, with Fidan promoting Turkey’s Middle Corridor and Development Road projects and exploring alignment with China’s Belt and Road Initiative to boost trade and connectivity. The summit will address digital sovereignty, AI, climate change, and is expected to adopt the Baku Declaration and a statement on occupational safety, while potentially welcoming Laos as a new CICA member.
