Turkish gendarmerie detains five foreign Daesh suspects in coordinated Adıyaman raids
Turkish security forces arrested five foreign nationals suspected of Daesh ties during simultaneous raids in Adıyaman province, seizing phones and SIM cards.
In a coordinated counterterrorism sweep, the Adıyaman Provincial Gendarmerie Command’s specialized units, acting on an investigation led by the Adıyaman Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, raided five locations in southeastern Türkiye’s Adıyaman province tied to five Iraqi nationals identified only by initials. All five suspects were taken into custody, received medical examinations, and were transferred for questioning, while authorities recovered five mobile phones and five SIM cards.
The operation underscores Turkey’s sustained effort to disrupt Daesh networks domestically and across borders. Meanwhile, Syrian Internal Security Forces and the General Intelligence Directorate, as reported by state news agency SANA, broke up a Daesh-affiliated cell operating from Raqqa to Aleppo, Idlib and Homs, arresting four alleged leaders accused of kidnappings, IED placement and assassinations, and seizing a large cache of explosives. Both actions reflect regional security forces’ focus on dismantling terrorist infrastructure.
