Turkish pilots start Eurofighter Typhoon flight training in the United Kingdom
Turkish Air Force pilots have begun flight training on Eurofighter Typhoon jets in the UK after completing a terminology course, part of a deal for 20 new aircraft.
Turkey’s Defense Ministry announced that Air Force pilots have moved from terminology studies to actual Eurofighter Typhoon flight training in the United Kingdom. The program is linked to a October 2025 contract worth up to £8 billion for 20 brand-new Typhoons, with the first aircraft expected in 2030. Training will last eight months, after which a three-month instructor course will enable Turkish personnel to train additional crews.
A March-signed support agreement also provides for ten pilots and nearly 100 technicians to receive hands-on instruction in aircraft systems, simulators and maintenance, with long-term spare-parts support. BAE Systems will assemble the Turkish aircraft at its Warton plant in northwest England. Ankara is also exploring second-hand Eurofighters from Qatar and Oman to fill the gap before the new jets arrive.
