Turning Point USA student and mother dispute actions at Indiana school event

Sophia Hunt, a TPUSA chapter president, says a mother grabbed her hand and cursed at volunteers during a back-to-school event, while the mother, Kailly Stanich, denies the accusations.

During the August 10 Rock the Block event in Westfield, Indiana, TPUSA chapter president Sophia Hunt reported that a mother, identified as Kailly Stanich, confronted her booth when a child attempted to take a patriotic bracelet. Hunt alleges the mother grabbed her hand, caused the bracelet to fall, and shouted profanity toward the student volunteers. Stanich disputes the account, saying she simply told her son not to take the bracelet, did not raise her voice, and did not make physical contact.

She has submitted a police report and claims to be facing death threats online. Hunt said other students and nearby parents witnessed parts of the exchange. The incident has drawn attention from conservative figures, including Indiana Republican Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith, who praised Hunt’s response.
