TÜV SÜD launches $24 million Global Decarbonisation Centre in Singapore
TÜV SÜD, backed by the Economic Development Board, opened a Global Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence in Singapore, investing over USD 24 million to build a digital MRV platform for high-integrity carbon data.
Supported by Singapore’s Economic Development Board, TÜV SÜD invested more than USD 24 million to establish a Global Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence that will deliver a comprehensive digital MRV system for carbon markets across ASEAN. The Centre is designed to generate verification-ready, high-integrity carbon data, tackling the regulatory fragmentation and methodological inconsistencies that undermine market confidence.
Leveraging TÜV SÜD’s assurance capabilities and cutting-edge digital technology, the hub will aid the operationalisation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and support regional climate-ambition. Executives highlighted Singapore’s role as a neutral, internationally connected hub that can raise standards for carbon integrity. The Centre will focus on five strategic areas, including carbon market regulation, energy transition, supply-chain integrity, and capacity building for governments and industry. Its launch coincides with TÜV SÜD PSB’s 20th anniversary in Singapore, underscoring a long-standing partnership with the city-state.
Why it matters
The centre could boost investor confidence and unlock trillions in ASEAN carbon-market opportunities.
