TVET graduates can now earn up to RM16,000 monthly, says Human Resources Minister

At the CIAST convocation in Putrajaya, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan reported that monthly salaries for highly skilled TVET workers can now reach RM16,000, a notable rise from the previous ceiling of about RM12,000. He recalled that, when he first took office, TVET wages were generally reported between RM8,000 and RM12,000, with only a small share hitting the upper end. Ramanan attributed the growth to expanding industry recognition of TVET qualifications and emphasized that graduates should not fear AI or automation, as human expertise remains essential for developing and operating such systems.

He warned that falling behind in skill development could lead to difficulties in the job market. The minister concluded by encouraging continuous upskilling and reskilling to stay relevant.
