TVSN to cease broadcasting after failed sale, launches clearance sale
Home shopping channel TVSN announced it will shut down after its owner could not secure a buyer, prompting a closing-down sale.
TVSN, which has aired since 1995 and sells fashion, homewares and accessories via Seven Network and its own livestream, will close after Direct Group failed to secure a buyer. Customers were notified by email that a clearance sale begins Tuesday and will run until inventory is exhausted, with a reminder to use existing gift cards and vouchers. Two suppliers told the outlet they had not been directly informed of the closure and are owed substantial unpaid invoices; Alison Lennard of Philosophy Australia said TVSN is her biggest wholesale client and owes tens of thousands.
She expressed uncertainty about recovering the money or accessing stock held by the network. Direct Group, which also publishes Reader’s Digest Australia and targets shoppers over 45, did not comment. The board expects the channel to cease operations unless a buyer emerges.
Why it matters
The shutdown affects suppliers, employees and shoppers who rely on TVSN's retail platform.
