Twelve men arrested in Ho Chi Minh City for stealing nearly 2,700 cats for meat

Police in Ho Chi Minh City arrested twelve men suspected of operating night‑time groups that took four to ten cats from residential neighborhoods, resulting in the theft of roughly 2,700 cats destined for the meat trade. Authorities seized fur‑removal machines, animal traps and scales during the raids. The operation is linked to 39‑year‑old Luu Thanh Binh, who was identified as the mastermind behind the syndicate. Thirteen of the rescued cats were returned to owners, while the remaining animals were placed with the HAVEPAWS Social Center pen.
