Twelve suspects arrested in multi-department raid linked to two 2025 drug-gang murders
Police and gendarmerie detained twelve people across five French departments in connection with two 2025 killings tied to rival drug traffickers.
Following a prolonged investigation into two 2025 homicides linked to a feud between drug-trafficking groups, police and gendarmerie executed a large-scale raid on Tuesday. Elite forces GIGN and RAID assisted local units in apprehending twelve individuals suspected of committing or enabling the killings of a 50-year-old ambulance driver in Marsannay-la-Côte and a young man in central Dijon. The arrests spanned five departments: Côte-d’Or, Yonne, Oise, Var and Haute-Garonne, with three suspects extracted from existing prison cells.
According to a joint communiqué, eleven of the detainees have been placed under formal examination; five remain in pre-trial detention, while the rest are subject to judicial control. Authorities highlighted the unprecedented wave of violence stemming from competition between two criminal groups involved in narcotics trafficking. The prosecutor of Dijon validated the findings and confirmed the suspects' alleged roles as hitmen, drivers, coordinators or logisticians.
Why it matters
The arrests aim to curb escalating drug-gang violence and demonstrate coordinated law-enforcement response across regions.
