Two civilians killed during olive harvest amid Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon

Two men harvesting olives in the Bint Jbeil district were killed, one by an unexploded munition in Froun and the other by Israeli shelling in Yater.

Two civilians were killed while participating in the yearly olive harvest in Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district. In the village of Froun, an engineer from Beirut died when a foreign object left from earlier fighting detonated as he tended trees. In nearby Yater, a man was struck by Israeli shelling while inspecting his land, according to one outlet News Agency.

The Lebanese army attributed the attacks to Israeli tank fire and described them as a flagrant breach of the June cease-fire. Municipal leaders in both villages have warned residents to avoid the outskirts and wait for army decontamination efforts. The deaths occur amid ongoing cross-border hostilities that have persisted since the June agreement, despite a general reduction in violence. Volunteers from Jebchit joined the harvest in solidarity, underscoring local resilience.
