Two college seniors arrested after pre-dawn brawl kills 46-year-old in Agusan del Sur
Police detained two fourth-year college students following a drunken early-morning fight in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur that left a 46-year-old man dead and a 22-year-old injured.
In San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, a pre-dawn brawl erupted at approximately 2:40 a.m. in Purok 4, Barangay II, involving two intoxicated fourth-year college students known locally as “Rommel,” 25, of Loreto, and “Nomer,” 23, of Esperanza. They repeatedly punched the victims, identified only as Marciano, 46, and Jobert, 22, during a drunken dispute. Marciano was transported to Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Prosperidad but was pronounced dead on arrival; Jobert survived with several injuries.
Investigators from the San Francisco municipal police station, under the direction of Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon of Police Regional Office 13, initiated a hot-pursuit and apprehended the suspects later that morning. The two men are now detained at the municipal police custodial facility and have been charged with murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code.
