Two drivers sentenced for deadly street racing that killed a mother and her child

A Leeds court sentenced two men to 12 and 16 years for causing the deaths of Justyna Hulboj and her four-year-old daughter while racing high-performance cars on a city road.

In Leeds, Hardeep Bhachu and Jasskamal Riyat were each convicted of causing death by dangerous driving after a high-speed race involving an Audi TT and a BMW 135i resulted in the fatal collision of Justyna Hulboj, 27, and her four-year-old daughter Lena Czepczor, who were walking to a nursery. Bhachu admitted the charges, while Riyat denied racing but was still found guilty. The court handed down 12-year and 16-year prison sentences respectively.

During sentencing, the judge warned that powerful cars should not be used for competition on public streets and lamented the irreversible loss suffered by the victims' family. He noted that nothing the mother and child did could have prevented the tragedy, underscoring the severe consequences of reckless driving.
