Two far-right activists face trial for fatal shooting of Argentine rugby star in Paris

Federico Martin Aramburu, a 42-year-old former international rugby player and Biarritz Olympique figure, was found lying on the street in front of a shop on boulevard Saint-Germain after being shot multiple times. Emergency responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead on site. Ten rounds were discharged within a minute, first hitting his right thigh and chest, then his back, causing fatal injuries to vital organs.
The gunmen, Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, are associated with the radical GUD movement that was dissolved in 2024. Both escaped the scene and have been charged; their trial at the Paris assizes begins on Monday, highlighting concerns over extremist violence in France.
