Two fishermen dead and one still missing after boat capsizes near Karachi
Two bodies were retrieved following a capsizing fishing boat off Karachi’s Sea View, while a third fisherman remains unaccounted for.
A boat with five fishermen capsized in the sea close to Karachi’s Sea View area, near the Nishan-i-Pakistan monument. Two crew members were saved on Monday night, while two dead bodies were retrieved on Tuesday; one victim has been identified as 55-year-old Abdul Salam, son of Fateh Ali. The identity of the second deceased remains unknown, and a third fisherman is still missing as search efforts continue.
The Edhi Foundation managed the rescue operation, moving the bodies to Jinnah Hospital via its ambulances. Rescue 1122’s spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan said the incident was caused by a fault in the boat and that the Pakistan Navy and Coast Guard were called in to help. The incident adds to a series of recent capsizing events in Karachi waters.
