Two Foreign Tourists Killed and Two Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Iceland's Ring Road
A four-car collision on the Ring Road in East Iceland killed two tourists in their 60s and left two others with serious injuries.
On Saturday, a four-vehicle pile-up on Iceland's Ring Road in the east claimed the lives of two foreign tourists in their 60s. The collision, which involved eight individuals, also seriously injured two other visitors, who were airlifted to a hospital in Reykjavík. The other participants were taken to the medical centre in Egilsstaðir, where they were treated and discharged later that day. East Iceland Police issued a casualty notice confirming the fatalities and the serious injuries, while describing the remaining injuries as minor.
The Icelandic Transportation Safety Board, together with police, has opened an investigation to determine the factors behind the crash. Travelers are advised to check current road conditions before proceeding.
