Two French influencers detained in Dubai on drug possession charges

Influencers Océane El Himer and Léa Mary, who together have amassed around three million followers on Instagram, were taken into police custody in Dubai on accusations of drug possession and consumption. Both women first rose to fame through reality-TV programs such as "Les Princes et les Princesses de l’amour" and "Les Marseillais". A third online personality, known as Amirrlife, is said to have been detained with them.

French diplomatic sources indicated that the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs was informed of the arrests and that the French consulate in Dubai is providing consular support. The United Arab Emirates enforces some of the strictest drug laws worldwide, with minimum sentences of two years and maximum terms up to fifteen years, applicable to residents and visitors alike.
