Two Galway men face additional sexual assault charges linked to August rape case
Two men already accused of raping and falsely imprisoning a woman in Galway have been charged with further sexual assault offences.
In Galway, two men aged 27 and 25, already facing rape and false imprisonment charges for an August 2026 incident, received new sexual assault accusations. The younger defendant was charged with two counts of sexual assault at Ceannt Station, while the older faced a single count at nearby Victoria Place. Both men remained silent when the charges were read under caution.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the case proceed to trial in the Central Criminal Court, with the option of a signed plea. Their recent bail request to the High Court was rejected, and legal aid and an Arabic interpreter were provided. Judge Fiona Lydon adjourned the matter to 28 September for a book of evidence.
