Two Japanese climbers disappeared while pursuing the first ascent of Gangapurna West, a 7,140-metre Himalayan summit in Nepal. Their expedition, supported logistically by Cosmo Adventure, lost contact after October 15. When they did not appear at base camp as scheduled on October 18, a rescue operation began. Searchers first identified the climbers' camping area and a rucksack before spotting the bodies around 6,300 metres. The remains have been retrieved and transported to Kathmandu, where relatives will decide on further actions.
