Two junior officers killed as security forces eliminate eight militants in Hangu
A security convoy clashed with the Khwarij group in Hangu district, killing eight militants while two officers and four soldiers were slain.
In Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a security forces convoy engaged a hostile element identified as the Khwarij, linked to the Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij. The exchange resulted in eight militants being killed. The clash also claimed the lives of two young officers—Captain Abuzar Farooq, 23, of Gujranwala, and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, 22, of Chakwal—who were leading their men from the front, along with four other security personnel.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that a sanitisation operation is underway to root out any remaining terrorists in the area. The statement linked the operation to the broader “Azm-i-Istehkam” counter-terrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The military reaffirmed its commitment to continue the campaign against foreign-backed terrorism.
