Two juvenile suspects plead guilty to raping 14-year-old in Pekan
Two minors admitted guilt in a Pekan magistrate's court for raping a 14-year-old girl on Oct 6, receiving RM8,000 bail each.
A magistrate’s court in Pekan heard two juvenile defendants who each entered a guilty plea for raping a 14-year-old girl in a hut at Kuala Pahang between 9 pm and 10 pm on Oct 6. The charges, filed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, carry a possible 20-year term and whipping. Deputy public prosecutor Siti Sarah Aqilah Lokman presented the case, while the accused were defended by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Noor Shuhada Arifin.
Magistrate Melody Woon Sze Mun set bail at RM8,000 for each youth and scheduled a mention for Nov 30, awaiting a probation report from the Welfare Department, and issued an order that the suspects not disturb the victim. Family members of the youths gathered outside as the defendants were escorted to the lock-up in a police vehicle. The proceedings underscore the application of severe penalties even for juvenile offenders in Malaysia.
