Two known victims killed in shooting at Austin home, suspect detained
Police say a shooter opened fire on a woman and a man he knew inside a North Parkside Avenue residence in Austin, killing both.
Around 10:45 p.m., a neighbor heard gunshots from the basement of a house on North Parkside Avenue and called 911. Officers found a 47-year-old woman shot in the chest and a 27-year-old man shot in the torso. Both were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they later died. Two firearms were recovered and the alleged shooter, who was acquainted with the victims, was taken into custody. Area 4 detectives are handling the investigation.
