Two Marfin arson suspects appear before judge as terrorism charges added
Two of the three suspects in the fatal Marfin bank arson in Athens faced an investigating judge on Wednesday, with terrorism-related charges added.
The hearing involved a 46-year-old woman extradited from the United Kingdom and a 42-year-old man, both already in pre-trial detention. They now face accusations of homicide within a terrorist organization and multiple attempted homicides against the bank’s 24 staff members. The third suspect, also 42, received a postponement and will testify on Friday. These proceedings expand the original case into a supplementary terrorist-related prosecution.
Why it matters
The added terrorism charges signal a tougher legal stance on Greece's most notorious political-violence case.
