Two men discovered dead after gunfire exchange and SWAT standoff in Long Beach home

Police found two men with upper-body gunshot wounds inside a Long Beach residence after a suspect fired at officers and a SWAT team entered the house.

Early Saturday, Long Beach Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Gardenia Avenue after a call reported gunfire from a residence. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult male inside who warned he would shoot, prompting the officers to fall back and call for backup. The suspect discharged rounds at police, and an officer also fired, though no injuries were reported among law enforcement.

A SWAT team was eventually deployed and forced entry into the home, where they found two men deceased, each with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Police also recovered multiple firearms and other evidence inside the house. The identities of the victims have not been released, and the circumstances of their deaths are still being investigated as the department reviews body-camera video for public release.
