Two men fall into a sinkhole in Harghita; one dies, the other hospitalized

A sinkhole in Sântimbru-Băi, Harghita trapped two men aged between 40 and 45; one was pronounced dead while the other was taken to hospital.

In the village of Sântimbru-Băi, Harghita, a sinkhole collapsed, catching two men aged roughly 40 to 45. Emergency units, including two fire crews from the Miercurea Ciuc detachment, a SMURD response vehicle, and two county ambulance teams (one with a doctor), arrived quickly. The men were pulled out unconscious and resuscitation attempts were made.

One victim could not be revived and was declared dead at the scene, while the other was stabilized and transported to a hospital by the SAJ ambulance with a medical professional on board. The Harghita fire and rescue authority said the investigation into the exact cause of the sinkhole is ongoing.
