Two Milligan University cyclists killed in early-morning highway crash in eastern Tennessee
A vehicle collided with a Milligan University cycling team on a rural highway near Hampton, killing two sophomores and injuring several others.
Early Wednesday morning, a vehicle hit a Milligan University cycling team training ride on a rural highway in the Hampton community, roughly ten miles east of the Elizabethton campus. The crash, which happened at about 8 a.m., involved 11 cyclists; two sophomores, Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers, were killed. The remaining nine riders were hospitalized, with seven still under treatment and two discharged after care.
Tennessee State Patrol posted about the accident, and state police reported that several injured cyclists were transported by helicopter to nearby hospitals. The number of occupants in the other vehicle and their conditions have not been disclosed, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
