Two people die after electric shock at Besut pool, investigation ongoing

Police in Besut received a call at 1.40 p.m. about two individuals found unconscious at a local pool. Chief Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim said medical officers on site declared both the 49-year-old owner, Wan Adilah Wan Awang, and the 27-year-old student, Rubayyi Razali, dead, and their bodies were sent to the forensic unit of Hospital Besut for examination. The incident is being treated as a sudden death while investigators continue to determine the exact cause.

The student's husband, Wan Muhammad Naim Wan Hussin, arrived at the scene after inviting his wife back for a rest and found both victims lying motionless. He called for assistance from nearby farmers and suggested that an electrical current from a wire near the water may have caused the tragedy. Rubayyi, a second-year Biodiversity student at UiTM Jengka, was completing a practical training at the pool that began on 10 August and was due to finish in early October, leaving behind two young sons.
