Two separate fires blaze in Øygarden, residents evacuated and investigations launched

At 20:50 on Wednesday, emergency services responded to a fire at a detached house in southern Øygarden, where the roof was destroyed and the terrace was ablaze; two people were inside but all residents left safely and no injuries were reported. Police and fire officials noted that the house was already fully ignited when they arrived and chose to extinguish it from the exterior to avoid smoke-inhalation risks. An electric vehicle in a garage beside the home also burned, but the fire did not spread to a nearby caravan.

Investigators have begun questioning witnesses and have found no indication of arson. At 22:22, a second fire erupted in a two-storey row house on Møvik, close to the first incident, prompting additional firefighting resources from Laksevåg and Øygarden. The situation remains under investigation.
