Two separate fires erupt in Gangnam, injuring 19 people

Fires broke out in two buildings in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, leaving one person in cardiac arrest and 18 others with minor injuries.

At approximately 11:54 a.m. on Tuesday, a fire erupted on the third floor of a structure in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, causing one individual to go into cardiac arrest and ten others to experience minor injuries such as smoke inhalation. Around 60 residents evacuated the building themselves. Seven minutes later, a separate blaze started on the fourth floor of another nearby building, resulting in eight additional injuries, none of which were serious.

The Gangnam Fire Station dispatched a Level 1 response, mobilizing 115 personnel and 56 pieces of equipment to extinguish both fires. Officials indicated that the two incidents seem unrelated and will investigate the causes once the flames are fully contained.
