Two suspects appear in court over fatal Waterford arson that killed four family members

Cian Stacey, 21, and Jessica Dalton, 31, were charged with criminal damage and assault causing serious harm after a blaze in Waterford City killed Philip and Kim English and their sons, Callum and Jayden.

In a special session of Clonmel District Court, 21-year-old Cian Stacey and 31-year-old Jessica Dalton were each charged with one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault causing serious harm in connection with a deadly arson attack in Waterford City. The blaze on Tuesday destroyed the home of Philip and Kim English, killing them and their sons, Callum, 12, and Jayden, nine. Judge Andrew Gubbins presided over the hearing, during which both defendants remained silent when charged.

Dalton, identified as a lone parent without employment, agreed to be remanded in custody until her next appearance, while Stacey, who has no fixed address, was ordered to appear by videolink at a later date. Both legal representatives sought legal aid for their clients. The community funeral for the four victims is set for Monday.
