On Oct. 7, two 14-year-old boys were fatally injured when an explosive device they found in a field near Konotop, in the northeastern Sumy Oblast, detonated. Governor Oleh Hryhorov reported that the children died at the scene from severe injuries. He emphasized that, in addition to ongoing enemy strikes, civilians face a serious risk from unexploded ordnance and landmines that litter the region.
