Late on Sept. 21, Toronto police were called to a hydro field on Reesor Road after a vehicle fire was reported, where they found the charred remains of 32-year-old Marcus Charles. A subsequent investigation named three people as involved: 25-year-old Rushon Powell, charged with first-degree murder; 25-year-old Shakurwa Jeffrey, charged as an accessory after the fact; and 25-year-old Devondre Hall, who remains at large under a Canada-wide first-degree murder warrant, with his photo released to the public.
The two arrested suspects were scheduled to appear before a bail judge at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre. Police also disclosed a second fatal vehicle fire that occurred less than two hours later in Etobicoke, where the body of Mohamud Kheyre was recovered.
