Two-vehicle collision on M9 leaves several injured and drivers in critical condition

Police reported that a car traveling against traffic on the M9 northbound caused a head-on collision with a second vehicle at Junction 3 shortly after 03:00 on Sunday. The driver and front passenger of the second car, both women in their 30s, were transported to Tallaght University Hospital and are listed as critical. A 20-year-old female rear-seat passenger was taken to St. Luke's General Hospital in serious condition, while a child passenger was moved to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, also serious.

The stretch of the M9 from Junction 3 to Junction 4 remains shut, with local diversions active. Gardaí have asked anyone who saw the crash or has dash-cam footage to contact investigators, and an independent inquiry by the Office of the Police Ombudsman is underway.
